George said here on Thursday that he was abandoning all relationship with Twenty-Twenty Kizhakkambalam, a corporate social responsibility outfit of the Anna-Kitex Group of companies. Mr. George, formally a member of the CPI(M), contested the November 2015 local body elections as an Independent candidate under the banner of Twenty-Twenty Kizhakkambalam. The outfit was floated by the Anna-Kitex Group under the coordination of Sabu Jacob, head of the Kitex Group, with the aim of turning Kizhakkambalam into a model Indian village by 2020. Mr. George told a press conference here that 19 of the Independent candidates under the Twenty-Twenty banner won the elections in 2015. He would continue to be a member of the panchayat, he said.
