Pakistan's Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the death sentence of late former military ruler and former President Pervez Musharraf in high treason case, reports livemint.com citing media reports. Pervez Musharraf was sentenced to death by a special court under Article 6 of the Constitution on December 17 in the year 2019. Pervez Musharraf, who died on 5 February 2023, had made the ‘unconstitutional’ decision to declare an emergency in November 2007. Earlier on November 10, Pakistan's Supreme Court decided to hear an appeal by the deceased former military dictator against the special court majority judgment. The Lahore High Court (LHC) declared the verdict given by the special court as “unconstitutional" on January 13 in the year 2020.
