She fought back when they tried to assault her, and then they set her on fire. Transgender people in Pakistan can often experience violence and hate crimes as a result of their gender identity. Although Pakistan’s parliament passed a transgender rights bill this year and the nation has seen a surge in trans people running for office, transgender residents still face extreme danger. Last month two men were arrested for the murder and dismemberment of a trans woman in Peshawar.
