Pakistan has reminded India of its obligations under the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) and cautioned that New Delhi's own credibility would suffer if the accord was violated, an official said in Islamabad. "India has to abide by its international obligations, if it wants to be taken seriously by the international community," Pakistan's foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said at the weekly media briefing. Zakaria was referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks that the water that "rightfully belongs to India" could not be allowed to go to Pakistan. He said the treaty was a binding agreement under the Vienna Convention. India's indication to revisit the accord came on the heels of the Uri militant attack that claimed lives of 18 Jawans.
