Pakistan must account for money being given to Hafiz Saeed for 'basic expenses': US


The United States has asked Pakistan to maintain account of the money being given to 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed for "basic expenses". The United Nations Security Council's 1267 sanctions committee, under which global terrorist are sanctioned, has approved Pakistan's request to allow Pakistani rupees 150,000 for "basic expenses" to Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) Hafiz Saeed. Islamabad went to UNSC to seek permission for Saeed to draw up to Pakistani rupees 150,000 from his accounts on a monthly basis. Pakistan has said that such "an exemption was in line with the established procedures and practices of the UNSC 1267 Sanctions Committee". Pakistan government in its request said Saeed, as a sole supporter of his 4-member family, is responsible for food, drink and clothes expenses for all the family members.
