KUANTAN: Operations to clamp down on the mushrooming of illegal gambling dens will only be a futile attempt if the police do not get the full support from relevant agencies and the public. He said despite numerous state-wide operations, the illegal gambling operators remain stubborn and would get back into business once the authorities have ease of enforcement actions. "The crackdown on illegal gambling announced by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim on Wednesday means serious business and we hope all the relevant agencies will join hands to eradicate the gambling dens. On illegal gambling premises in Pahang, Azri said such premises do exist as the operators daringly return to business despite the police conducting regular raids and confiscating the gambling machines. He declined to comment on how serious was the menace in Pahang but assured that the latest crackdown described as the "mother of all illegal gambling operations" is expected to completely wipe out the gaming outlets.
