Paddy Power Betfair has reported rising third-quarter sales and earnings as the group was boosted by punters betting big on Conor McGregor’s boxing bout against Floyd Mayweather. The bookmaker reported a 9 per cent increase in revenue to £440 million (€501 million) in the three months to September 30, while underlying earnings ticked up 7 per cent to £121 million. Paddy Power Betfair said that the high-profile boxing match in August helped it to mitigate the absence of a major football tournament compared with the same period last year.
