Nabil Benabdallah was re-elected for a third term as Secretary General of the leftist Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), a member of the PJD-led coalition government. Benabdallah won the vote with a sweeping majority over his challenger Said Fakak, fostering his leadership of the former communist party. The 10th congress, held under the slogan “New Democratic Approach”, also approved the Central Committee, the Political Control and Arbitration Committee and the Financial Control Committee. Born in Rabat in 1959, Nabil Benabdallah started his career as a translator in Moroccan courts. In 2010, he was elected as the Secretary General of the PPS party, succeeding Moulay Ismail Alaoui.
