PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said the move is to expedite the conduct of investigation and solution of controversial killings of local executives. “This will closely monitor and facilitate national level coordination of all investigative efforts by the different PNP units, offices and special Investigation task groups (SITG) involved in the investigation of incidents of involving local chief executives,” said Albayalde. Dubbed as the National Investigation Task Group, Albayalde said he has designated Police Director Elmo Francis Sarona, the current head of the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM). Most of the slain chief executives are being linked to illegal drugs trade.
