PNP: Ambush of Negros cops shows CPP’s insincerity on peace pact

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Friday that the ambush of four police officers reportedly committed by suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Negros Oriental shows the insincerity of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) to pursue peace agreement with the government. Relebert Beronio, Pat. Marquino De Leon were all killed in an ambush allegedly staged by the NPA at Sitio Yamot, Barangay Mabato in Ayungon town Thursday.
