When Raila Odinga was Prime Minister, he made sure that William Ruto was not involved in hiring IEBC commissioners, Energy CS Charles Keter has said. “The current IEBC commissioners were appointed by Raila and retired president Mwai Kibaki, and Jubilee leaders were not involved,” he said as quoted by the Star. According to Keter, Raila went out of his way to keep Ruto, who was Eldoret North MP and member of ODM, out of the process. Uhuru and Deputy President Ruto were nowhere at that time. Sankok noted that Raila and Kibaki said the Jubilee government is not responsible for the IEBC impasse for which Cord leaders have been holding weekly Mondays protests.
