“The global economy is on the verge of a great depression. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has forecast that the global economy will shrink by 4.9% in 2020. “Several international organizations have said that due to the coronavirus pandemic, 195 million workers worldwide will lose their jobs, global FDI inflows will fall by 5%-15%, and global remittances will fall by 20%,” the prime minister said. Thanking everyone involved in preparing the budget, the prime minister said they worked tirelessly to formulate the budget during the general holidays. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina hoped that the countrymen and the people of the world would be freed from this deadly global pandemic and the patients would recover soon.
