Last month, President Duterte shortened his visit to Japan after complaining of excruciating pain on his spinal column following a recent motorcycle fall. Meantime, the President recognized Japan as a valuable partner of the ASEAN during the regional dialogue here. “President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, in his remarks during the 22nd ASEAN – Japan Summit, has reaffirmed Japan’s role as a longstanding partner of ASEAN in all of its facets of development,” Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said.
