The Philippines improved its ranking in this year’s Global Innovation Index (GII) by four notches. The country now ranks 50th out of 131 economies in the index that is co-published by the Cornell University, Insead and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). “The latest GII ranking of the Philippines is a great source of hope and inspiration for all Filipinos who are facing uncertainties in the midst of the current pandemic. Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar on Thursday also welcomed the Philippines’ improved ranking in the GII. “This international recognition affirms the success of our national innovation policy and highlights our country’s solid economic fundamentals,” he said.
