DTI to legislators: Pass Internet Transactions bill – The Manila Times

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Thursday expressed support for the passage of the proposed Internet Transactions Act, which its chief said would further grow electronic commerce (ecommerce) and safeguard consumers in the country. The number of online complaints received by the department also increased to 12,630 as of August 31 from 2,457 in 2019. “The quadruple increase of this is attributed to the surge of online transactions due to the [Covid-19] pandemic. According to him, the bill would also promote the best interests of Filipino consumers and bring to light the department’s mandate: employment, business and consumers. The DTI is fully supportive of the bill and we sincerely hope for [its] immediate enactment,” he added.
