Arsenio Andolong, DND spokesmanTHE Philippines is expecting six attack helicopters from Turkey as part of the country's modernization of its military air assets, according to the Department of National Defense (DND). The twin-engine, tandem seat, multi-role, all-weather attack helicopter, patterned after the Agusta A129 Mangusta platform, is designed for advanced attack and reconnaissance missions whether in hot and high environments, and even within rough geography both day and night. Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana also confirmed the attack helicopters' acquisition. He had said that the Philippine Air Force was more interested in acquiring the Turkish-made choppers for its attack helicopter program. The Turkish Aerospace Industries' website also announced the delivery of six helicopters to the Philippines.
