PH, Fujian ink business deals worth $11 million


COMPANIES from the Philippines and China’s Fujian province signed last week 15 cooperation and joint venture agreements worth at least $11 million (P595.21 million), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said on Monday. In a statement, the Trade department said the deals were signed during a business networking conference organized by the Fujian government and led by Gov. They include buying $4.51 million and $6.27 million worth of Philippine bananas from Del Monte Fresh Produce and Verde Horizon Agri-Ventures Corp., respectively. According to the department, China was the Philippines’ top trading partner, fourth-largest export market, and leading import supplier last year. Approved Chinese investments also increased by 53.6 percent to P2.3 billion last year from P1.52 billion in 2016.
