Share TweetBy Alexandria Dennise San JuanThe Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) continues to monitor a potential super-typhoon approaching the country. PAGASA Weather Specialist Meno Mendoza said morning that Mangkhut does not have any direct effect on the country’s weather since it is still outside the Philippine area of responsibility ( PAR). PAGASA Weather Specialist Gener Quitlong said in a radio interview that Mangkhut might reach the strength of a super typhoon like “Jebi” that lashed Japan last week. PAGASA said that Mangkhut will need to have maximum sustained winds of over 220 kph to be classified as a super typhoon.
