Hongkongers who returned to the city from overseas during winter might fuel the city's difficulty in battling the Covid-19 pandemic, respiratory medicine specialist Leung Chi-chiu said. This comes as local Covid-19 cases infected by unknown sources have been mushrooming in the city recently, with 229 such cases having been recorded over the past week -- a 20 percent increase in comparison with last week. Speaking at a radio program this morning, Leung said that the virus’ transmission had also been significant among residential and domestic worker clusters. Asked about eight domestic workers who contracted Covid-19 in a Tai Po domestic worker dormitory, he said that the underlying health risks of the premise had yet to be solved. He called on citizens to reduce unnecessary social contacts amid the severe situation of the pandemic, and that a massive outbreak could happen if the sources of infections could not be cut off within a short period of time.
