Over 70 Covid patients will be confirmed by health officials today, according to reports. Hong Kong yesterday saw a drop in Covid-19 infections, as the city reported 53 cases – the lowest in a month. Of the 47 local cases, 27 were linked to previous local infections and 20 with untraceable sources. Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the Centre for Health Protection's Communicable Disease Branch said they have discovered on two student returnees from the UK the new highly-transmissible Covid virus strain, though there are no signs of the virus leaking into the community. The Centre also reported that a mandatory testing order has been issued to residents who live in Ping Shing House, Ping Tin Estate in Lam Tin, after eight individuals have been diagnosed from five units from the building.
