MANILA, Philippines — Mobile phones, laptops, bladed weapons, and a camera were seized by the Philippine National Police from 40 jails in the National Capital Region in the first nine months of 2017. A week after President Rodrigo Duterte visited the jails of the BJMP, authorities presented seized contrabands that included 517 cellular phones, 12 electronic gadgets and cigarettes, lighters, cans of beer, and playing cards to the media. Senior Inspector Xavier Sola, in a phone call with PhilStar.com, said that Oplan Greyhound covered January to September 2017 operations. Seized contrabands from the operation were an improvised knife and water heaters. Sola said that Oplan Greyhound is component under the Oplan Linis Piitan of the new management of the BJMP.
