When asked if extraterrestrials exist, Mr Mongkolkit responded: “Yes, they do. Phitsanulok-born Mr Mongkolkit, 44, has been involved on the fringes of Thai politics for more than a decade. The party received only 60,000 votes nationwide but managed to qualify for a seat thanks to the Election Commission’s generous interpretation of its rules. Mr Mongkolkit emphasised that his new party does not buy votes but “sells policies that are achievable”. The New Alternative Party (No.10 on the ballot) is competing in the Feb 8 election with candidates in 43 constituencies.
