That is my takeaway from spending the morning reviewing Oregon’s new Roth IRA savings program – Oregon Saves – for employers that do not offer employees a qualified retirement plan. Below is a quick review, and a few suggestions to future states to offer a better solution to their state’s savers. After that it appears there are only two choices: a S&P 500 Index fund or a Target Retirement Fund series. However, the informational spreadsheet above states it does not allow at the moment for transfers out to another Roth IRA. If you happen to not qualify to save to a Roth IRA I suppose you will just need to opt-out of the plan.
