Oregon beggar sentenced to jail after causing over $9,000 in damage because no one was giving her money, report says

An Oregon panhandler was sentenced to 20 days in jail on Wednesday after wreaking havoc on five businesses in Portland because she said no one was giving her money. Neely pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree criminal mischief and was ordered to pay about $10,500 in restitution, in addition to the jail time. Neely told jailers she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and hadn't been taking her medication. Judge Marshall said Neely was released on Wednesday having been credited for 20 days served since the arrests. Neely told Marshall she was willing to stay in shelters until she finds a permanent home, according to The Oregonian.
