Opportunities for red meat industry with alternative proteinsSUPPLIED US company Impossible Foods has developed an alternative "meat" burger. Similarly, alternative proteins are one of those obstacles that, along with drought and Mycoplasma bovis, the red meat industry is having to face. Instead, we can appeal to the international consumer whose preference is for naturally-raised, hormone and antibiotic-free red meat. Unfortunately, the rise of industrialised farming systems has tarnished the image and reputation of the entire red meat sector. As an organisation, I feel proud that the alternative proteins report has vindicated our decision to invest in unlocking market potential as part of B+LNZ's revised strategy.
