Republicans have Very Serious budget demands. Unfortunately, they can’t identify what any of those demands are. Lawmakers need to raise the debt limit so the government can continue paying all the bills that Congresses past have already committed to. They say they’ll raise the borrowing limit only on the condition that Democrats make some (as-yet-undetermined) cuts relating to future budgets. Read the full opinion at The Washington Post.
