Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and due to the invaluable effort given by the citizens of this country every day, Bangladesh has made progress in leaps and bounds. So much so that we will no longer be a least developed country in the near future, but one that is developing, on the path towards being considered a developed nation. While Bangladesh’s potential for success has never been in doubt, we must remember that this has required immense effort — the cumulative effect of the countless sacrifices made by our predecessors. We must also remember that this journey has been fraught with immense obstacles, some of which still remain. In many ways, Bangladesh has done more than anyone had ever expected when we first came into being 46 years ago.
