SHAH ALAM: An online vendor was charged at the Sessions Court today with selling unauthorised walkie-talkie via www.lelong.com.my in August 2013. The wireless Motorola T5720 walkie-talkie did not bear the Scientific and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (Sirim) certification. She was charged with selling the communication device which was not per the Communications and Multimedia (Technical Standards) Regulations 2000. The payment for the walkie-talkie was made through Maybank2U’s online banking service on Aug 13, 2013, at Sirim QAS International Sdn Bhd, Shah Alam. Rukaiyah was charged under Regulation 16(1) (b) of the Communications and Multimedia (Technical Standards) Regulations 2000, punishable under Regulation 37 of the same Regulation.
