more-inMADURAIThe Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Friday closed a contempt petition filed after discrepancies cropped up in online registration of documents. The petition was closed following the Registration department’s submission to make the process simpler. Selvam and A.M. Basheer Ahamed took cognisance of the status report filed by Inspector General of Registration J. Kumaragurubaran. Mr. Kumaragurubaran, in the status report, said Software 2.0 was launched by Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami on February 12. Drawing a comparison between the number of documents registered from February to April in both 2017 and 2018, he said 3.31 lakh and 3.26 lakh documents were registered respectively.
