Rasheed BisiriyuFor a first time visitor to the Destitute Home located at Okobaba in the Ebute-Meta area of Lagos, the place may look too organised for a camp for beggars. The home was said to have been built by the Lagos State Government under the then Military Administrator of the Lagos State, Mohammed Marwa, many years ago. Some destitute children were seen helping themselves to a portion of the beans, while their parents were busy receiving other gift items from different people and groups. A canopy was erected in a corner of the home by the Church of Faith Foundation that had come to donate some food items and mattresses. The women, many of whom were physically-challenged, were in their wheelchairs in the centre of the compound, attending to their babies and receiving food items from visitors.
