One person is dead following a crash at the speedway track in Palmerston North on Sunday evening. A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to the track at around 6:15pm. The livestream of the race doesn't show the moment of the crash but commentators can be heard reacting as it happened. "[He] came down the straight hard, hit the other car, went sideways, flicked back and went head-on straight into the wall," they explained. Promoter Bruce Robertson told Stuff Speedway NZ has impounded the car and would conduct an investigation.
