ODM party has termed the defection of former Kisumu county party chairman Ayiecho Olweny to President William Ruto’s UDA party as inconsequential and betrayal to Raila Odinga. Kisumu county ODM party deputy chairman Seth Ochieng alias Adui said Kenya is a multiparty democracy and reiterated that the defection of Olweny was inconsequential. Nyando Subcounty ODM chairman Apunda Magwar said the defection would not affect the party operations, noting that the party was intact. Apunda said Olweny was not elected as Kisumu county ODM chairman but was given by Raila. The party, Ochieng said, was making realignment after it realised that Olweny had gone to bed with the UDA party.
