Jimmy Griffith added: "Hard to imagine a cricket season without chatting to Les about Crompton CC and cricket in general. Crompton Cricket Club said Les was a "Crompton great" in cricket and that members will miss "the stories and tales of his many years of cricket, both playing and watching". The club added: "It's such a shock and will leave a hole in many people's lives that knew him. "Les was a massive part of the club's history and his tales will go on and he will be fondly remembered by all players and members of Crompton Cricket Club.
