The man who held the honour as the oldest living All Black, Ron Elvidge, has died. The Otago rugby great played 19 games and nine tests as a rugged midfielder for New Zealand between 1946-50. Elvidge, who combined a successful medical career with his rugby one, died in his home city of Auckland on Saturday, aged 96. The All Blacks won the 1950 series 3-0 after the opening test in Dunedin had been a 9-9 draw. He also played five matches for the South Island and represented New Zealand Universities iin 1945 and '46.
