devinder@nst.com.myTHE adage that old is gold proved apt for bowlers Abdul Rahman Bava Kutty and Abu Bakar Nyat as they mentored their respective partners to maiden victories at the Asean Para Games today. At an age when most people are retired or looking forward to it, Abdul Rahman and Abu Bakar are perfectly happy to be blazing away on the bowling lanes and bringing glory to the country at the Sunway Megalanes in Bandar Sunway. In winning his third Asean Para Games gold, 60-year-old Abdul Rahman helped his partner half his age, the 29-year-old Amin Abdul Rashid, win his first in the B10 mixed doubles event for the physically impaired (hands). While playing down the age difference, Abdul Rahman credited Amin for bailing him out with four games of 200 or better. “We were behind (by 22 pins) going into the last game and we knew we had to go all out,” said Abdul Rahman, who had his children cheering him on.
