East Kowloon emergency unit commander Wong was testifying before coroner Ko Wai-hung on the third day of an inquest. Barrister Flora Cheng Suk-Yee said two fire engines tried to approach the car park but had to take a detour due to the roadblocks. On Tuesday, Wong said his 30-strong squad entered the car park to disperse protesters, and denied that officers interfered with emergency workers involved in Chow's rescue. It also showed Wong's squad went into the car park at 1.04am. Wong replied that tear gas could "only make people feel uncomfortable," and he decided to act only after more than 40 protesters inside the car park threw objects at officers.
