Residents using water from the River Kandisi are staring at possible disease outbreaks after a senior civil servant directed sewer lines into it. The Star visited the area and saw saw the sewer pipes directing raw sewage from the Riverside Flats to River Kandisi through plots belonging to four other people. The Riverside Flats house 60 occupants and residents fear more homes might be connected to the illegal sewer line. Ongata Rongai division public health officer Timothy Mutiso has raised concerns after the owner of Riverside Flats used his influential position to lay shallow sewer lines through other people’s land into the river. The resident who sought anonymity said the owner of the flats hired goons to forcibly lay the sewer line.
