Occupancy certificate a must for new Keramat tahfiz school

KUALA LUMPUR: The new Darul Quran Iftifaqiyyah tahfiz school will only operate after receiving an occupancy certificate from the Fire and Rescue Department. Following Thursday’s deadly fire that engulfed the school’s temporary building, the fire department will inspect the new building to ensure it complies with fire safety regulations. The school’s principal, Muhammad Zahid Mahmod, said students will not reside in the building until the school receives a green light from the fire department. He said the school is also looking to hire two security guards to prevent people from breaking and entering. He also said students, especially those from poor families, could enrol in the school for free.
