Dick Evans, of the Wellington Rugby Supporters’ Club, with British Lions lock W.D. Thomas, of Llanelli and Wales, remained close to the Evans family after the tour. Stuff Evans meets a dummy of himself in his supporters’ club gear, made for a float at a 1965 procession. This led to him to playing the trumpet, and to establishing the rugby supporters’ club, having seen a successful one in Wales. A feature of the Wellington club was a game-day parade through the streets to the clubrooms at Athletic Park.
