PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism has warned traders to abide by the zero per cent Goods and Services Tax (GST) which is effective from June 1 or face stern action. He said the ministry would work with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) to ensure the traders abide by the regulation. He also urged consumers to check the receipts each time they pay for the goods bought to make sure that the GST is at zero per cent. “On June 1, the price tags may still show RM100, we allow that, but the consumer must make sure that on the receipt, the price is RM94. "Consumers must be alert and ensure that the receipt shows that the GST is zero per cent, not the standard-rated six per cent any more.
