Alyssa Kelly pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to injure, behaving threateningly, possessing an offensive weapon, and driving while disqualified when appearing in the Oamaru District Court. A heated argument via text culminated in an Oamaru woman slashing another during a struggle. Judge Roberts said the victim, in a victim impact statement, complained about the cuts she received which required her to be taken to Dunedin Hospital for surgery. Leading up to the confrontation, in a three-way text exchange, Kelly wrote to her victim: "Want to give me a hiding? Kelly arrived at the property and "after a short verbal exchange, you produced a knife", Judge Roberts said.
