The department of pharmaceuticals ( DoP ) upheld the company's stand saying that the price fixation was faulty.The size of the ORS powder market alone is Rs 160 crore. The ceiling price for ORS is Rs 16.25 for a 21.8g sachet. The FDC price is Rs 17.17 for the same. It sells 9.54 crore sachets of ORS, both (21.8g and 4.4g) annually. Companies not complying with the ceiling price would be making crores and mocking the drug price control law while stealing an advantage over other law-abiding companies.
