OPP lifts Simcoe, Ont., shelter-in-place

Provincial police have lifted a shelter-in-place Saturday in Simcoe, Ont., which was in place while officers responded to an active incident involving potentially multiple armed suspects. In a news release Saturday, Ontario Provincial Police said Colborne Street N., Union Street, Young Street and Kent Street were closed for an ongoing investigation. Residents who were not in the affected area were asked to avoid travelling to the area. The OPP said the public could expect to see an increased police presence. "We recognize the significant emotional impact that receiving a shelter in place can cause," the OPP said in Saturday's release.
