CHICAGO – The Rangers signaled their intention to move on from outfielder Willie Calhoun — once a highly-touted prospect — last Sunday by designating him for assignment. Calhoun, 27, cleared waivers on Saturday and accepted his assignment at Triple-A Round Rock. By doing so, Calhoun would’ve also walked away from the rest of the $1.3 million he had guaranteed for this season. “At this moment in time, the opportunity wasn’t going to be here.”Calhoun’s immediate future will be at Triple-A Round Rock without a 40-man roster spot. Since he was demoted, Calhoun has had 68 at bats for Round Rock.
