ODM has dismissed reports that former Imenti Central MP Gitobu Imanyara has succeeded Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba as party Secretary General in an acting capacity. He said the appointment of the acting Secretary General of the party in the event of a vacancy is not a reserve of the party leader or any other official of the party. Etale said the onus of appointing a new official of the party rests with the central committee which has to meet and make recommendations to the National Executive Committee for consideration. In a statement Thursday, ODM’s director of communications Philip Etale said that Namwamba ‘who is the Secretary General of the party has not handed in the resignation letter despite news in the media that he has resigned from the post’. “Any other information to the contrary should be treated as mere speculation,” Etale concluded.
