TTC passengers will likely be taking a shuttle bus more often next year as the agency anticipates 166 planned subway closures, up from 73 in 2019. According to a report that will be presented to the TTC board next Thursday, the agency is expecting 34 full weekend closures and up to 18 single-day closures for different portions of the subway system. This year, there were 31 full weekend closures, six single-day closures, 28 early weeknight closures and eight late Sunday openings planned. The TTC expects the closures to slow down in 2021, with 26 full weekend closures, two single-day closures and eight late Sunday openings anticipated. In 2022, the TTC forecasts 19 full weekend closures, two single-day closures and eight late Sunday openings.
