The incident took place in Kumarkhali upazila weeks after the under-construction sculpture of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was vandalized in the same district on December 5. Kushtia police OC Md Mujibur Rahman said that after hearing the news about the matter, a team of police went to the spot for inspection. A group had also vandalized an under-construction sculpture of the country’s founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Panch Rasta Moar area of Kushtia on December 5. Jatindranath Mukhopaddhay (Mukherjee), popularly known as Bagha Jatin, was the a leader of Jugantar Dal, a secret organization of Bengal which struggled for liberation from British colonizers.
