DHAKA, April 6, 2026 (BSS) - Members of the para-military force, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), have seized a large consignment of smuggled Indian sarees worth over Taka 1.69 crore during a special anti-smuggling drive in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district. According to a BGB press release, the drive was conducted by a patrol teamfrom the Brahmanbaria Transit Camp under Sarail Battalion (25 BGB) in theMukundapur area of Bijoynagar this noon. During the operation, smugglers attempted to flee with their pickup truckafter sensing the presence of the BGB team. The seized sarees are currently in the process of being handed over to theAkhaura Customs Office for further legal action. Speaking on the matter, Sarail Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel JabbarAhmed said that BGB remains committed to ensuring border security andpreventing smuggling.
