(Photo: Chinnawat Singha)Bangkok has so far been spared the impact of hazardous air pollution from the North, while overall air quality in the capital has improved this year, according to Governor Chadchart Sittipunt. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Mr Chadchart said wind direction remains the key factor influencing pollution levels. To better manage air quality, City Hall has begun deploying advanced technology, including a high-performance air quality monitoring system, known as a “Super Station”, supported by China. Such detailed data will allow for more targeted and effective responses to air pollution. Discussing longer-term solutions, the governor voiced support for the proposed Clean Air Act, describing air pollution as fundamentally an economic issue.
