The overall decommissioning sum is in line with the trends identified by Oil and Gas UK in recent years. British decommissioning was worth £1.2 billion in 2016 and is tipped to increase to £1.8 billion this year. The researchers expect annual spending to be between £1.7 billion and £2 billion until 2025, with 214 fields due to be dismantled over that period.
